This LEED Gold facility combines a library with a recreational center, serving as the heart of the community and encouraging a wide variety of events and celebrations.

Developed as an innovative project between the Town of Queen Creek and the Maricopa County Library District, it exemplifies forward-thinking design and functionality.

The community-focused facility features spaces that serve multiple functions, including distinct areas for adults, children, and teens. Highlights include the vibrantly colored, three-dimensional Mary Lou Fulton Children’s Center, four quiet study rooms, a private reading alcove, a technology area, and administrative spaces. Additionally, three meeting and conference rooms of varying sizes offer flexibility to accommodate diverse activities and events.

Community involvement was pivotal to the project’s success. The Town of Queen Creek invited multiple user groups to participate in numerous community meetings throughout the design process. Local residents played a crucial role in the project, ultimately selecting the final design from three concepts.

Marking the first municipal building constructed under Queen Creek’s 2007 Green Building Policy, the library incorporates several sustainable features. An efficient heating and cooling system reduces electricity costs, while low water-use fixtures are installed throughout. Run-off from the site is collected underground in a retention system that filters the water before returning it to the aquifer.
